    PEOPLE

    Maciej Albinowski

    Maciej is an economist. He works at the Institute for Structural Research (IBS), where he focuses on minimum wage effects and on structural changes on European labour markets. His research areas include labour markets, tax incentives and export competitiveness.

    At UNTANGLED Maciej is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP5: Micro-level analysis, WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory, WP7: Synthesis and policy, and WP8: Stakeholder engagement.

    Amat Adarov

    Amat is an economist at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw), where his research focuses on international trade and finance, applied macroeconomics, economic integration and transition economies. He also contributes to the development of the institute’s macroeconomic analysis and forecasting system.

    At UNTANGLED Amat is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP4: Meso-level analysis and WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Marek Antosiewicz

    Marek is an economist at the Institute for Structural Research (IBS). He specialises in labour economics, economics of environmental change, heterogeneous macroeconomic models and multi-agent modelling.

    Ronald Bachmann

    Ronald is an economist. He is head of the Labour Markets, Education, Population research unit at the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research (RWI) and professor of labour economics at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. His research focuses on labour economics, with a particular emphasis on labour market dynamics, the evaluation of labour market policies, and European labour markets.

    At UNTANGLED Ronald is involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP5: Micro-level analysis, WP7: Synthesis and policy, WP8: Stakeholder engagement and WP9: Dissemination and communication.
    Ronald also serves as Data & IPR Manager.

    Mikkel Barslund

    Mikkel is a research manager at HIVA – KU Leuven within the research group Work, Organisation and Social Dialogue. His research is primarily focused on the effects of global trends such as digitalisation, globalisation, demographic change and climate change on labour and job quality. In the past, he has worked on the broad impact of demographic change and also has expertise within the areas of migration/EU mobility and long-term care.

    Mikkel is UNTANGLED Project Coordinator and leads WP1. He is also involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis and WP4: Meso-level analysis.

    Haroon Bhorat

    Haroon is professor of Economics and Director of the Development Policy Research Unit at the University of Cape Town. His research interests cover labour economics, poverty and income distribution.

    At UNTANGLED Haroon is involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP7: Synthesis and policy and WP8: Stakeholder engagement. He is also a member of UNTANGLED general assembly.

    Michał Burzyński

    Michal is a Research Associate at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), specialising in international and labour economics. His research interests focus on economics of international migration, international trade, development and labour economics.

    Roberta Capello

    Roberta is a full Professor of Regional and Urban Economics at Politecnico di Milano. She specialises in regional economics and urban and regional development.

    At UNTANGLED Roberta leads WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory. She is also involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP7: Synthesis and policy, WP8: Stakeholder engagement and WP9: Dissemination and communication. She is also a member of the UNTANGLED General Assembly and the Executive Committee.

    Andrea Caragliu

    Andrea is an associate professor of Regional and Urban Economics at Politecnico di Milano. He is currently working on soft determinants of regional productivity growth, different forms of proximity as channels of transmission of knowledge spill-overs, and smart urban development.

    Silvia Cerisola

    Silvia is an assistant professor of Regional and Urban Economics at Politecnico di Milano. Her research areas are regional development, creativity, cultural heritage, regional disparities and regional competitiveness.

    Frederic Docquier

    Frédéric, an economist, is Research Programme Leader on Crossing Borders at Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and a Professor of Economics at the Université Catholique de Louvain. His research interests are in quantitative development theory, economic growth and international migration.

    At UNTANGLED Frédéric is involved in WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory.

    Karina Doorley

    Karina is an economist and a senior research officer at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), an adjunct lecturer at Trinity College Dublin and an IZA research fellow. Her research interests include labour market policy evaluation, inequality and demographic change.

    At UNTANGLED Karina is involved in all Work Packages and is a member of the General Assembly.

    Yang Du

    Yang is a professor at Institute of Population and Labor Economics, Chief of Division of Labor and Human Capital, and deputy Director of the Research Center for Human Resources, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His main research fields are the Chinese labour market, economic growth, poverty and development.

    At UNTANGLED Yang is involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP7: Synthesis and policy and WP8: Stakeholder engagement. He is also a member of the UNTANGLED general assembly.

    Cristina Fernandez

    Cristina is a labour economics researcher at Fedesarrollo. With a long history of research in macroeconomics, she has devoted the most recent years of her career to the analysis of the labour market and particularly informality.

    At UNTANGLED Cristina is involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP7: Synthesis and policy and WP8: Stakeholder engagement. She is also a member of the general assembly.

    Mahdi Ghodsi

    Mahdi is an economist at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw). His research focuses on international trade, international trade policy, non-tariff measures, industrial policy, foreign direct investment and global value chains.

    At UNTANGLED Mahdi is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP4: Meso-level analysis and WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Myrielle Gonschor

    Myrielle is an economist and a researcher in Labour Markets, Education and Population at the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research (RWI). Her research areas are labour economics, social insurance, and applied microeconometrics.

    At UNTANGLED Myrielle is involved in WP5: Micro-level analysis.

    Ursula Holtgrewe

    Ursula is a sociologist and the Head of the Work and Equal Opportunities Unit at the Centre for Social Innovation GmbH (ZSI). Her main areas of expertise are service work and service organisation, social innovation, comparative institutionalism, and digitalisation. She has a habilitation in sociology.

    At UNTANGLED Ursula is leader of WP8: Stakeholder engagement. Ursula is also involved in Work Packages: WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP5: Micro-level analysis, WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory, WP7: Synthesis and policy, and WP9: Dissemination and communication.
    She is a member of the Executive Committee and the General Assembly.

    Peng Jia

    Peng is an economist at the Institute of Population and Labour Economics (IPLE) at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). His research interests include minimum wages, technology and the labour market.

    At UNTANGLED Peng is involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP7: Synthesis and policy and WP8: Stakeholder engagement.

    Cecilia Jona-Lasinio

    Cecilia is an economist. She is senior researcher at the Italian Statistical Institute (Istat) and Adjunct Professor of International economics at LUISS Guido Carli in Rome. Her main research interests are new sources of growth models, knowledge based capital and ICT; productivity analysis; and macro-econometric modelling and forecasting.

    At UNTANGLED Cecilia is involved in WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory, WP8: Stakeholder engagement and WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Zuzanna Kowalik

    Zuzanna is a sociologist and economist, working as a researcher at the Institute for Structural Research (IBS). Her interests focus on the labour market, sociology of work and socioeconomic inequalities.

    At UNTANGLED Zuzanna is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP5: Micro-level analysis, WP8: Stakeholder engagement and WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Michael Landesmann

    Michael is an economist. He is senior research associate at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) and Professor of Economics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. His research focuses on East-West economic integration, structural change, economic growth, general topics in international economic relations, globalisation and labour markets and migration.

    Sandra Leitner

    Sandra is an economist at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) and a lecturer at the Kepler University Linz and the University of Vienna. Her areas of interest and expertise revolve around the economics of innovation and technical change and related areas such as growth and business cycle theory, labour and capital markets, entrepreneurship and investment theory.

    At UNTANGLED Sandra is involved in WP4: Meso-level analysis and WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Karolien Lenaerts

    Karolien, an economist, is a research manager in the Work, Organisation and Social Dialogue Research Group at KU Leuven’s Research Institute for Work and Society (HIVA). Her research focuses on the impact of digitalisation on the labour market, working and employment conditions of (platform) workers, social protection, workers’ representation and participation, and skills needs in innovative business clusters.

    Karolien is the UNTANGLED Project Manager and a member of the Executive Committee. She is also a leader of WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, and WP7: Synthesis and policy.

    Camilla Lenzi

    Camilla is an economist and associate professor of Regional and Urban Economics at Politecnico di Milano since 2015.

    At UNTANGLED Camilla is involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory, WP7: Synthesis and policy, WP8: Stakeholder engagement and WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Piotr Lewandowski

    Piotr is a labour economist. He heads the Warsaw-based Institute for Structural Research (IBS) and is a research fellow at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn. His research interests include the impact of technology on jobs, wage polarisation, labour market segmentation and the minimum wage.

    At UNTANGLED Piotr leads WP3: Macro-level analysis, and contributes to all work packages. He is also a member of the UNTANGLED executive committee and general assembly.

    Martina Lindorfer

    Martina is a research associate and project manager at the Centre for Social Innovation GmbH (ZSI). Her research interests involve both social and technological innovation and the ways technology policy can address societal challenges. Beyond research, she has contributed to a wide range of strategy building and road mapping exercises and is an experienced facilitator of multi-stakeholder processes.

    At UNTANGLED Martina is involved in WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP5: Micro-level analysis, WP8: Stakeholder engagement, WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Karol Madoń

    Karol is an economist at the Institute for Structural Research (IBS). His research areas are evaluation of labour market policies, the gender wage gap and the impact of global automation on the employment level.

    At UNTANGLED Karol is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP5: Micro-level analysis, WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory, and WP7: Synthesis and policy.

    Iga Magda

    Iga is an economist. She serves as vice president of the Warsaw-based Institute for Structural Research (IBS) and is an assistant professor at the Warsaw School of Economics. Her research interests include gender wage gaps, wage and income inequalities, and non-standard employment.

    At UNTANGLED Iga is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP4: Meso-level analysis, WP5: Micro-level analysis, WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory, WP7: Synthesis and policy, and WP8: Stakeholder engagement. She is also member of the Gender Equality Team.

    Isilda Mara

    Isilda is an economist at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) and country expert for Albania and Kosovo. Her research focuses on labour markets, migration and social policy.

    Konstantina Maragkou

    Konstantina is an economist. She is a Research Fellow in the Economics Analysis Division at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). Her research is focused on policy-relevant questions in the fields of education, labour and health economics.
    At UNTANGLED Konstantina is involved in all Work Packages.

    Ludivine Martin

    Ludivine is an economist and the research coordinator of priority topic Employer/Employee relations at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). Her main research interests cover personnel and labour economics, with a special focus on the impact of technological transformations on workers’ motivations and well-being. She has extensive experience in survey and experimental data collection and analyses.

    At UNTANGLED Ludivine is leader of WP5: Micro-level analysis, and a member of the Executive Committee and the Gender Equality Team.

    Seamus McGuinness

    Seamus is an economist. He is a research professor and the research area coordinator for labour market research at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI). His research interests include labour economics and the economics of education; he has particular expertise in the areas of education and skill mismatches.

    At UNTANGLED Seamus is involved in all Work Packages.

    Daniel Mirza

    Daniel is a professor of economics at the Tours University and the co-director of the International Trade and Sustainable Development Department at the Laboratoire d’Economie d’Orléans (LEO) CNRS. He specialises in international trade, globalisation and conflict issues.

    At UNTANGLED Daniel is involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP7: Synthesis and policy, WP8: Stakeholder engagement and WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Thuc Uyen Nguyen-Thi

    Thuc Uyen is an economist. She is a Research Fellow in the Labour Market Department at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). Her current research interests include: personnel and behavioural economics; labour economics; economics of innovation and management of innovation.

    At UNTANGLED Thuc Uyen is involved in WP5: Micro-level analysis and WP7: Synthesis and policy.

    Marta Palczyńska

    Marta is a labour economist. She is a researcher at the Institute for Structural Research (IBS) and a doctoral student at the Warsaw School of Economics. Her research interests focus on
    cognitive and non-cognitive skills, public policy analysis and economics of education.

    Giovanni Perucca

    Giovanni is an assistant professor of Regional and Urban Economics at Politecnico di Milano. His research area is regional economics, especially on the themes of well-being and policy evaluation.

    Cristiano Perugini

    Cristiano is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, University of Perugia, and an IZA Research Fellow. His main research interests include functional and personal income distribution, wage inequality, labour market institutional settings and performance, and gender disparities.

    Fabrizio Pompei

    Fabrizio is an associate professor of Applied Economics in the Department of Economics, University of Perugia. His main research interests are focused on the relationships among labour, productivity and innovation, and their effects on wage and income inequalities. He is also interested in the interplay between the market for corporate control and the innovative capacity of firms.

    At UNTANGLED Fabrizio is involved in all Work Packages.

    Isabelle Rabaud

    Isabelle is a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Orléans and a researcher at the Laboratoire d’Economie d’Orléans (LEO) CNRS. Her main field of research is international economics, in particular trade in services; globalisation and the environment; migration; and international organisation/strategy of firms.

    At UNTANGLED Isabelle is involved in WP2: Framework and joint infrastructure, WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP7: Synthesis and policy, WP8: Stakeholder engagement and WP9: Dissemination and communication. She is also a member of the UNTANGLED general assembly.

    Monique Ramioul

    Monique teaches organisation sociology at KU Leuven and is Head of the Work, Organisation and Social Dialogue Research Group at the university’s Research Institute for Work and Society (HIVA). Her research interests focus on organisational change and changes in work, including those related to globalisation and technological change, and their impact on job and employment quality, including job content, working conditions, occupational health and safety and voice and representation.

    At UNTANGLED Monique is Senior Project Coordinator.

    Roman Römisch

    Roman is an economist at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw), where his research focuses on regional economic development, national accounts and macroeconomic analysis. He has a strong background in quantitative analysis.

    At UNTANGLED Roman is involved in WP4: Meso-level analysis and WP9: Dissemination and communication.

    Nela Šalamon

    Nela is a junior researcher in the Work and Equal Opportunities Unit at the Centre for Social Innovation GmbH (ZSI). Her major research interest lies in the societal effects of digitalisation and automation, and in the development of indicators for quantitatively assessing social change in organisations.

    Sandra Schaffner

    Sandra is an economist and a research associate at the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research (RWI). Her research interests are regional economics, labour market economics and applied econometrics.

    Robert Stehrer

    Robert is an economist. He is scientific director of the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) and a lecturer in economics at the University of Vienna. His expertise covers issues ranging from international integration, trade and technological development to labour markets and applied econometrics.

    At UNTANGLED Robert is leader of WP4: Meso-level analysis, and he is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis, WP6: Scenarios for Europe and its territory, WP7: Synthesis and policy, WP8: Stakeholder engagement, and WP9: Dissemination and communication.     Patrick Thill

    Patrick is a researcher in social and political sciences at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). His research areas include the Europeanisation of employment policies and relations, European integration and governance, youth unemployment in Europe and the digitalisation of labour.

     

    At UNTANGLED Patrick is involved in WP8: Stakeholder engagement.

     

    Adrien Thomas

    Adrien, a political scientist, is a researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). His research interests focus on collective bargaining, the sociology of trade unions and labour environmentalism.

    At UNTANGLED Adrien is involved in WP4: Meso-level analysis and WP8: Stakeholder engagement.

    Ilse Tobback

    Ilse is a labour economist and a senior researcher at KU Leuven’s Research Institute for Work and Society (HIVA) in the research group Work, Organisation and Social Dialogue. Her main research areas are labour economics and economics of education.

    At UNTANGLED Ilse is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis; WP4: Meso-level analysis; WP5: Micro-level analysis; WP7: Synthesis and policy and WP8: Stakeholder engagement.

    Camélia Turcu

    Camélia is a Professor of Economics at the University of Orléans and a research fellow the Laboratoire d’Economie d’Orléans (LEO) CNRS. She is co-director of the LEO research team for International Economics and Sustainable Development. Her research areas include international (macro)economics and resource economics.

    Philippe Van Kerm

    Philippe is an economist. He holds a joint professorship at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and the University of Luxembourg in Social Inequality and Social Policy Analysis. His research interests are in applied micro-econometrics, welfare and labour, with particular reference to poverty and income distribution dynamics, wealth inequality, social mobility, wage, tax, social protection and social policy.

    At UNTANGLED Philippe is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis and Work Package 5: Micro-level analysis.

    Sem Vandekerchove

    Sem is a sociologist and economist. He is a senior researcher in the Work, Organisation and Social Dialogue Research Group at KU Leuven’s Research Institute for Work and Society (HIVA). His research focuses on wages, collective bargaining, and job quality. Sem is contributing to all WPs.

    Francesco Venturini

    Francesco is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Perugia and a fellow at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research. His current research deals with institutional and policy factors enabling innovation and how the latter affects economic growth and inequality. He is a member of the Ifo-World Economic Survey expert group.

    Bertrand Verheyden

    Bertrand, a public economist, is a researcher in the Labour Market Department at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). His research focuses on labour, migration and education.

    At UNTANGLED Bertrand is involved in WP3: Macro-level analysis and WP8: Stakeholder engagement.

    Marcel Voia

    Marcel is an economist and a research fellow at the Laboratoire d’Economie d’Orléans (LEO) CNRS. His research interests focus on theoretical and applied econometrics. His work covers several areas of theoretical econometrics: distribution analysis, dynamic models and duration models with applications in areas of industrial organisation, banking, energy, environment, political science education and health.

    Meiyan Wang

    Meiyan is a Professor at the Institute of Population and Labour Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and director of the division of labour relations research at the Institute of Population and Labor Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on labour migration, employment and wages, human capital development and labour relations in China.
