The one-day UNTANGLED workshop gathered 23 labour market economists from European universities and research institutes to discuss and reflect on 10 papers on skill changes and the value of skills.

The UNTANGLED researchers convened on May 17 in Leuven, Belgium, to discuss and summarise the progress made during the past two years of our project. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the achieved outcomes and to strategise for the final phase of the project.

The fifth edition of the UNTANGLED Open Virtual Expert Café brought together 10 participants who discussed labour-market issues, presented their work and shared information about new projects and initiatives.
The UNTANGLED Midterm Conference, titled “Labour market effects and social impact of technological transformation, globalisation and demographic change”, was held on 9 November in Brussels, attracting 16 papers and 45 participants. We had four very productive sessions and a lively panel discussion.
The UNTANGLED Expert Workshop Tensions in Europe’s labour market triggered by globalisation, digitalisation and demographic changes brought together 25 labour economists, policymakers and labour market practitioners.
Researchers and representatives of social partners and public bodies came together at the second UNTANGLED expert workshop for a candid discussion of their experiences commissioning, using and absorbing research, and recommending ways to make it easier for policymakers to use the results.
More than 20 participants from three continents came together online to discuss labour-market issues during the fourth edition of the UNTANGLED Open Virtual Expert Café on 31 August. Attendees were drawn from academia, research institutes and social partners, including presentations from Colombia and South Africa.
The third edition of the UNTANGLED Open Virtual Expert Café was held on 22 June, bringing together 22 participants from academia, research institutes and social partners. Each presentation of research results or ongoing work and projects was followed by a lively discussion.
The first UNTANGLED Expert Workshop, Global trends and variations: technological transformations, globalisation, demographics – varieties by regime, region, sector: disruption or reiteration? organised by wiiw brought together 21 experts specialising in labour economics from research institutes, think tanks, EU bodies and international organisations.
Our introductory webinar on 5 July provided an opportunity for stakeholders, colleagues and everyone who is interested in the impact of globalisation, technological transformations and demographic change on labour markets in the European Union to get to know our project. Our researchers briefly explained the goals and planned research output of our three-year project.
